Lyndsey & Brianna

August 2025

Their Story

Lyndsey and Brianna both grew up around Steinbach, and their paths first crossed through mutual friends. For the first five years of their relationship, they were friends. During that time, both women came to similar realizations about themselves and their lives, including that dating men wasn’t working for either of them.

Their story took a meaningful turn during the pandemic. While spending time together at a mutual friend’s cottage during a COVID isolation exemption period, Lyndsey and Brianna decided to explore what had quietly been building between them all along.

In a season that felt isolating for so many, they found connection. Throughout the pandemic, they grew closer, supported one another, and became each other’s constant, building a relationship rooted in trust, friendship, and genuine partnership.

The Proposals

During the pandemic, Lyndsey and Brianna developed a tradition of planning surprise dates for each other, finding joy and intention in the small moments. When Brianna decided it was time to propose, she returned to that tradition.

On a warm evening in May, Brianna planned a surprise date, telling Lyndsey it was simply because they hadn’t done one in a while. Throughout the day, Lyndsey discovered handwritten notes placed around the house, each one leading her closer to the backyard. As the sun began to set, she found the space glowing with candlelight — and Brianna waiting. Brianna proposed at sunset.

Some time later, Lyndsey proposed back; this time at sunset on the beach, honouring a meaningful tradition often shared in same-gendered engagements. Two proposals, two sunsets, and one shared “yes”; a beautiful reflection of the balance, intention, and mutual respect that defines their relationship.

The Wedding

My day began at Ashgrove Acres, a beautiful and peaceful setting that was perfectly suited for Lyndsey and Brianna’s wedding day. The owner’s home on site provided two separate getting-ready spaces, allowing both brides privacy while still keeping everything conveniently close, making this an ideal setup for a seamless wedding morning.

After checking in with the venue owner and wedding party, I began setting up the reception décor. Lyndsey’s cousin, Pam, prepared the florals for the centrepieces, while Let’s Celebrate completed the table place settings. As delicious smelling desserts arrived, the reception space began to come together beautifully. Once setup was complete, I checked in at the ceremony site to ensure every detail was in place before it was time for the first look and wedding party photos.

Lyndsey’s uncle, a retired pastor, officiated the ceremony, creating a deeply personal and heartfelt exchange of vows. After the brides shared their “I do’s,” guests enjoyed cocktail hour outdoors while the band completed sound checks inside the reception space. As cocktail hour came to a close, a gentle drizzle began, and guests moved indoors — a perfectly timed transition into the evening celebration.

Following the grand entrance, the catering team prepared a buffet of mouth-watering dishes, and after dinner, speeches began. Each speech truly captured the depth of love and support surrounding Lyndsey and Brianna. One particularly meaningful moment came when Brianna’s father read a letter written by her mother — words lovingly prepared for Brianna’s wedding day before her passing years earlier. The room grew quiet as he shared her message, honouring her presence in a way that was both tender and powerful. There were tears throughout the space, myself included, and it was a moment that will be remembered by everyone who witnessed it.

As the evening continued, the celebration naturally shifted from heartfelt to joyful. One standout moment came when a song from the “do not play” list — Shoop — made an unexpected appearance. In a playful twist, Lyndsey took to the microphone and delivered a karaoke-style performance that had the room cheering and laughing. The Band, Men in Cheap Suits, had the dance floor packed all night long.

From deeply meaningful speeches to laughter-filled moments on the dance floor, the evening was a beautiful balance of emotion and celebration. So many unforgettable memories were created at this stunning Ashgrove Acres wedding — a true reflection of Lyndsey and Brianna’s love, their people, and the life they are building together.

Congratulations, Lyndsey & Brianna!
